A$AP Rocky, who is still behind bars in Sweden, has officially been charged with assault by Swedish prosecutors.
The 30-year-old rapper has been in custody for weeks after he was accused of assaulting a man in Stockholm on June 30. The altercation was caught on video and showed Rocky trying to avoid a fight.
Public prosecutor Daniel Suneson says that Rocky is being charged “despite claims of self-defense and provocation,” according to the New York Times.
“It is worth noting that I have had access to a greater amount of material than that which has previously been available on the internet,” the prosecutor added in a statement. “In addition to video material, the injured party’s statements have been supported by witness statements.”
Rocky‘s trial will take place within the next weeks and two members of the rapper’s entourage are also standing trial. He faces up to two years in prison and a fine based on his daily earnings.
