Ralf Little, 41, has hit out at former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan. The Death in Paradise star retweeted a criticism to his Twitter followers earlier this morning.
Piers has come under fire for his latest column, which criticised professional tennis player Naomi Osaka.
Ralf retweeted several tweets criticising Piers’ piece in view of his 264,000 Twitter followers.
One of these came from writer Ash Sarkar who screenshotted Piers’ latest column.
Alongside this, they wrote: “Norms around mental health are changing, beyond the platitudes of ‘it’s OK not to be OK’.
“There’s a generation of people in the public eye are making it clear that misery shouldn’t be the price they pay for fame or success – and the old media guard can’t stand it.”
Ralf also shared a tweet from comedy writer Aaron Gilles, who is known as TechnicallyRon on the platform.
He penned: “*a woman has an opinion*
“Piers Morgan emerging from a nearby bin: “ABSOLUTELY F*****G NOT.”
Piers has come under fire for taking aim at Naomi after she said she would not attend press conferences for the French Open to protect her mental health.
In his column for the Daily Mail, Piers labelled her “petulant” and an “arrogant spoiled brat”.
He also compared her to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who he often criticises.
Piers wrote: “What Osaka really means is that she doesn’t want to face the media if she hasn’t played well, because the beastly journalists might actually dare to criticise her performance, and she’s not going to ‘subject’ herself to ‘people that doubt me.’
“This is straight out of the Meghan and Harry playbook of wanting to have the world’s largest cake and eating it, by exploiting the media for ruthlessly commercial self-promotion but using mental health to silence any media criticism.”
Naomi has now withdrawn from the competition after it was announced she would be fined $15,000 (£10,570) for not attending conferences.
She said in a social media post on Monday morning how she’d been suffering from depression since the 2018 US Open.
Naomi opened up as she added she’d had “a really hard time coping with that”.
She wrote: “So here in Paris I was already feeling vulnerable and anxious so I thought it was better to exercise self-care and skip the press conferences.”
Ralf is not the only star who has criticised Piers’ latest column.
Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton shared a joke on his Instagram account with a laughing emoji.
This featured a picture of Piers walking off the set of GMB and his tweet about Naomi.
As well as this, there was a tweet reading: “Big words from someone who flounced off set because the weatherman gave them a talking to.”
Piers has already hit back amid the criticism he’s received today.
He tweeted: “What journalist will dare criticise Naomi Osaka ever again?
“She’s got what she wanted – no more criticism, only praise.
“Meanwhile all her fellow tennis professionals will continue to fulfil their contractual obligations to the media & get criticism when deserved. This seem fair?”
