EastEnders legend Barbara Windsor has celebrated her 82nd birthday with friends, including funnyman David Walliams.
The soap actress was seen in high spirits as she surrounded herself with friends and family, amid her battle with Alzheimer’s.
Her husband Scott Mitchell, 55, was also in attendance as he beamed beside his other half to celebrate the day – which featured a gorgeous yellow birthday cake, adorned with the words ‘Dame Barbara’.
Close friend David shared the images online, and wrote to his 1.6 million followers: “Afternoon tea with a legend. Dame Barbara Windsor.”
Barbara is rarely seen out in public following her heartbreaking diagnosis, but did receive a standing ovation when she ventured out to the theatre last year to watch friend Bonnie Langford perform in the West End hit show 42nd Street.
Scott told Mirror about their date night: “It gives her such pleasure chatting to everyone and seeing them all and she never expects that reaction.
“Then she did an impromptu dance routine on the stage after the show.
“It’s like two different people once she enters a theatre.
"The old Babs emerges for a while. It’s wonderful to see those moments. During the interval we sneaked her into Royal Box and the response from the auditorium was so moving."
Scott also revealed: “After the show she was even tap dancing. A day I will remember.”
The Peggy Mitchell actress revealed last year that she was told she had Alzheimer’s four years ago.
She has since thanked her friends and fans for supporting her throughout the illness, saying: "It means so much to me to see some of my closest friends going together to support this cause."
