Faiz Rafi Osman and Justin Lee Goodemoot were married July 20 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn. Alex Beck, a friend of the couple who became a Universal Life minister for the occasion, officiated.
The couple met in Kalamazoo, Mich., at Western Michigan University, from which each graduated, Mr. Osman magna cum laude.
Mr. Osman (left), 34, is a coordinator at Blackstone Alternative Asset Management, an investment firm in New York.
He is a son of Tasneem F. Osman and Rafi A. Osman of Portage, Mich. Mr. Osman’s mother works in Kalamazoo as a support analyst for Consumers Energy, an energy company with offices in Michigan. His father owns the Marathon gas station in Portage and Chicago Subs and Grill, a restaurant in Kalamazoo.
Mr. Goodemoot, also 34, is the talent project manager in human resources for Huge, a design and digital marketing agency in Brooklyn.
He is a son of Darlene D. Goodemoot and Mark C. Goodemoot of Lake Odessa, Mich. Mr. Goodemoot’s mother is an elementary schoolteacher’s aid at Lakewood Elementary School in Lake Odessa. His father, who is retired, worked in Lake Odessa as a crop insurance adjuster for Rural Community Insurance Company.
