Jonnie Irwin trying to starve tumour as he urges fans not to worry about weight loss

Jonnie Irwin has revealed to his followers that he's “trying to starve a tumour” with a “tailored” diet and tells fans not to worry about his weight loss.

Back in November 2022, A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie, 48, announced that the lung cancer he'd been diagnosed with in 2020 had spread to his brain.

He revealed the first warning sign of his illness came while he was filming A Place In The Sun in August 2020 in Italy, when his vision became blurry while driving.

Jonnie has now revealed that he is on a new diet with the goal of "starving" the tumour and told his fans not to worry about his weight loss.

Jonnie shared a picture last night of his dinner on his Instagram, which appeared to consist of just a single prawn skewer in some sauce and half a lemon.

He explained: “For those who are worried that I’m starving myself don’t worry. Im not.

“I’m trying to starve a tumour by blocking its feeding pathways, by taking 'off label' drugs as well as a tailored diet -losing weight is deffo not the aim !”

He then added: “Plus exercise and key supplements with the expert help of @how_to_starve_cancer x”

Earlier this month, Jonnie revealed he had met with his “mentor”, author Jane Mclelland, who wrote the book How to Starve Cancer, who has now helped him with his new diet.

Jane's book has been described as “ground-breaking” as she described her own journey with cancer, and the medical discoveries she made on the way.

Fans were quick to send their well wishes to the presenter, and said they were happy.

One person said: “Whatever it takes, I pray it works for you. So happy every time I see you post, come on Jonnie.”

A second follower penned: “You don't have to justify anything, you do what makes you happy.”

A third added: “I heard about this.. don’t feed it like sugar etc?!

“I so hope this helps you lovely. I’m literally praying!!!”

Jonnie has previously said that people commenting on his weight loss was the reason he felt like he was forced to reveal his cancer diagnosis.

Talking about how he was forced to share the news, Jonnie said on GMB: "Certain busybodies on social media like: 'You don't look well', 'you look ill', 'you should go see the doctor'.

"I mean I had someone come up to me after A Place In The Sun live exhibition and said: 'My wife says you're too skinny'. I was just like: 'Well you're not are you!' and he couldn't believe I was biting back but what do people expect to gain from it."

The TV presenter shares three young children with his wife Jessica: Rex, three, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two.
