Katie Price handed suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to drink driving

Katie Price has been handed suspended prison sentence at Crawley Magistrates Court on Wednesday 15 December.

The 43 year old was handed the a 16 weeks prison sentence, suspended for 12 months after pleading guilty to drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance following a crash near her home in Sussex in September.

Katie was stood alone in the court room as she was slo told will have to undergo 100 hours of unpaid work in community as well as a further two years added to her driving ban.

During the hearing, witness Mr Marchant told of how Katie had fallen into the passenger seat and the car was on its side after she crashed on B road near Partridge Green, south of Horsham.

Mr Marchant recalled how he managed to remove a window and pulled Katie from the car before police arrived.

The court also heard from prosecutor Jonathan Karani, who recalled Katie saying at the scene of the crash: "I was just going to a friends but I know I shouldn’t be driving."

The prosecution also told the court that Katie consumed cocaine, vodka and lemonade before the crash. When she underwent a breath test, Katie had an alcohol level of 66mg – the legal limit is 35mg.

But, the prosecution added: "There is no evidence Katie Price has been anything but co-operative" throughout the proceedings.

Katie's defence barrister Joe Harrington said the star "is a lady with an awful lot going on".

Mr Harrington referenced Katie's five children as well as ongoing court matters with her bankruptcy. He added: "Things tend to be complicated with this lady".

Mr Harrington then asked the judge to consider imposing a community order or suspended sentence as well as a rehabilitation course for drink-driving.

District Judge Amanda Kelly then addressed Katie, telling her: "When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others.

"You could have killed somebody.

"Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time. You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time.

"You seem to think you are above the law."

Before her sentencing, Katie cast a serious figure as she walked towards the court entrance with her long blonde hair down.

The mum-of-five's face was mostly covered by a face mask and she wore a long blue puffa coat to head into the court.

Underneath her coat, Katie opted for a light pink logo'd top and a pair of casual white trousers with a pair of trainers.

Katie carried a designer handbag and wore a gold chain link necklace to complete her outfit.

The reality TV star had also chosen not to wear her engagement ring for the appearance as she arrived at the court alone.

Katie's fiancé Carl Woods was photographed arriving at Crawley Magistrate's Court separately from the former glamour model.

Love Island star Carl was seen in a pair of black jeans and a brown puffer, sleeveless gilet and wore a cream jumper underneath.

He clutched onto a disposable coffee cup as he walked along the road towards the court.

Following her last court appearance, Katie's sentencing was delayed to allow her to undergo treatment at The Priory and speak with probation service.

Katie was also warned against driving – but admitted she found it "hard" being unable to drive to see her son Harvey in college.

She was warned by the the chair of bench Julie Hutton after pleading guilty in September: "We regularly send people to prison for driving whilst disqualified."

Katie has since completed her stint in The Priory and admitted she felt suicidal before going into the mental health care facility.

Speaking on Netmums' Sweat, Snot and Tears podcast Katie revealed: "I was suicidal. Every time I tried to kill myself before I went into The Priory I kept thinking about my kids’ faces."

She continued: "People think I went into The Priory because of drink and drugs, it’s not true. It’s because of everything I’ve been through.

"There is a build-up of events. I’ve had to deal with so much. Three incidents have happened to me in the last few months that led me to going in The Priory."

Katie added: "I’ve been coping with life quite well, but it’s the incidents. I didn’t ask for any of these incidents to happen, but they are quite serious incidents. It’s a mental health hospital. I said to my mum, I’m not in rehab.

"Every week I see my therapist. I can rant at him, and not those people close to me."

In September, Katie was arrested and charged with drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance after a a car crash near her home in West Sussex.

She was taken to hospital by an ambulance after the accident.
