Louise Minchin, 52, is wondering – like many of us – what on earth is going on with this weather when we should be basking in blazing sunshine. But unlike most of us, she has a close pal who knows the forecasts inside out.
Compare and contrast this year’s rain to the glorious blue skies on the same day last year!
Taking to Twitter, the BBC Breakfast host demanded answers from Carol Kirkwood about what’s going on this miserable May.
Posting a photo of bright blue skies from last year’s heatwave during lockdown, she captioned it: “Compare and contrast this year’s rain to the glorious blue skies on the same day last year!
“What’s going on? @carolkirkwood ?#miserablemay.”
Fans agreed with her, with one penning in the comments section: “Come on Carol get the weather sorted I’m in the Lakes this week. You can only take so much wata.”(sic)
Another wondered: “Mother Nature telling us she prefers is locked down not put in our cars.”
“What is going on! Looks brighter for the bank holiday,” a third hoped.
A fourth joked: “We were hoping you could tell us Carol.”
While a fifth exclaimed: “We’re all doomed I tell you!”
Yesterday morning, Carol gave BBC Breakfast viewers a little bit of a good news, informing them that the heavy rain showers won’t be as frequent as they have been.
And she was right, as yesterday was a bit brighter than what we have been used to over the past couple of weeks.
As we head into the weekend, she had some more positive news as it looks set to be drier, brighter and warmer over the May bank holiday.
Elsewhere on the program, Louise reacted to her co-host Dan Walker’s gaffe after he referred to her as his wife.
Introducing the show, Dan, who is actually married to wife Sarah Walker, said: “Good morning, welcome to Breakfast with Louise Walker… Louise Walker?
Realising his error, he quickly added: “Sorry, Louise Minchin, apologies, and Dan Walker.”
Louise, who is also married to husband David Minchin, burst into fits of giggles at Dan’s mishap and was joined by members of the production team in the studio.
She chuckled: “I just don’t know what to say!
“Except for these are the headlines at 8 o’clock,” she quipped, moving on swiftly with the show.
Following the show, Dan then took to Twitter to confirm that while he does love his pal they are not married, to which Louise replied with a stream of laughing faces.
He penned: “Just to confirm… I do love working with @louiseminchin but we are not married… despite what I said on #BBCBreakfast this morning #MrAndMrsWalker.”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
