Cameron Merchant, a former Australian cricketer, took to his Instagram stories after his debut on The Weakest Link Australia. The Married At First Sight star, who tied the knot with his fellow contestant Jules Robinson in 2019, addressed the couple’s “horrendous” performance.

The 37-year-old poked fun at himself while the show aired on Australia’s Channel Nine on Tuesday night.

The reality star was admittedly clueless on his general knowledge throughout the programme.

In view of his 413,000 followers, Cameron offered an apology for his disastrous performance.

He began: “On behalf of everyone, I just want to apologise for the absurd, ridiculous and horrendous amount of questions that were answered wrong.

“But congratulations to my wife on winning The Weakest Link and becoming the strongest link.”

Cameron went on: “Wow. That was an experience. I’m usually the guy in the other room watching the TV saying, ‘How do you not know that?’

“Unfortunately, I just happen to be that person. So I apologise.”

In a follow-up post, the former cricketer shared a clip from the quiz programme where he answered a question correctly.

Jules was crowned the winner of The Weakest Link after beating her husband.

She won the reality TV special, hosted by Magda Szubanski, after answering just one question correctly during the final showdown.

“Who the hell are these people on The Weakest Link? So dim, it’s like they thrive on being wrong on simple questions,” Twitter user, Tom Roman, commented.

Kelly Little remarked: “These are the easiest questions I’ve ever seen on this show and they’re getting them all wrong.”

Julia Mann added: “Just watched something by mistake, The Weakest Link. Last 10 minutes the most embarrassing TV ever seen – them two empty heads wow.”

Jules was able to get one question correct during the final part of the programme.

She was asked: “Which American city is sometimes referred to as ‘Gotham’ and ‘the city that never sleeps?'”

To which Jules correctly said New York City.

Cameron appeared on the Australian version of Married at First Sight, where he wed Jules in an episode originally aired in January 2019.

The couple legally married in that same year in November.

The reality show pair welcomed their first child, Oliver Chase Merchant in October 2020.

Cameron often shares glimpses into their home life on social media.
