Amanda Holden and Phillip Schofield have finally broken their silences about their bitter feud that's rumoured to have been simmering for years.
Despite both being darlings of the ITV family – and having worked directly alongside each other in the past – the two presenters are said to have a tense history.
Amanda, 48, broke her silence on the Heart FM Breakfast Show, saying she'd offered to take Phillip out for a heart to heart chat to discuss their professional relationship but he'd snubbed her olive branch.
Phil, 57, took to Twitter to say he was taking the rumours "on the chin" and hoped his followers didn't believe them .
Their comments came as This Morning guest presenter Sophie Prescott called for Amanda to be sacked over the rumours.
She hosted a craft segment on the show last October for Halloween and claimed she found Amanda difficult to work with.
Amanda had made a dig at Phil on her radio show , saying the three things she wouldn't want to find in her house was "spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield".
The awkward dig comes months after the Britain's Got Talent's judge and Phillip, 57, were said to have gone through a huge falling out behind the scenes.
Their friendship is said to have soured after Phillip allegedly scuppered Amanda's dream of hosting This Morning.
Amanda is understood to have been thrilled to have been given a temporary presenting role on the show while Holly Willoughby was filming I'm A Celebrity last October.
But the offer is said to have been withdrawn at the last minute leaving her 'devastated'.
A source told The Sun : "Amanda was so excited when she learnt she had secured the role.
"So she was shocked when she was taken out to lunch by ITV executives who told her that unfortunately they couldn't follow through with the offer.
"During the lunch they let slip they thought the decision had been heavily influenced by Phil and that he had thrown a spanner in the works."
Holly's role ended up being given to former pop star Rochelle Humes, 29.
The source continued: "Not only had she cleared her work calendar to fit in the dates but she couldn't understand why Phil might not want her to be his co-host, as she thought they had a great personal and pro relationship."
Shortly after learning about the change in circumstance, Amanda was interviewed by Phil and Holly about her work with the charity Tommys.
During an ad break she's said to have confronted Phil about her suspicions .
The source added: "She made it clear that she felt very let down.
"He was lost for words but didn't have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air.
"Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack."
While Amanda's October stint on the ITV morning show didn't come off, she and Phil were paired up together back in 2015 while Holly Willoughby was on maternity leave.
In an interview, Phil hinted he would be relieved to be having Holly back as he said presenting with Amanda was 'quite scary.'
"She kept me on my toes," Phil said of Amanda during an interview with Heat magazine.
"She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary.
He continued: “The great thing is she comes out with things. I’d look at her and think, ‘I can’t believe you’ve just said that.’ Even I wouldn’t say what she says sometimes and I often have one foot over the line. Sometimes nearly two."
Mirror Online has contacted representatives for comment.
