Singer Ralph Tavares has died days before his 80th birthday. The star was part of 70s American R&B and funk and soul group Tavares, along with four of his brothers.

The cause of death has not been revealed.

The fifth out of 10 Tavares siblings, Ralph formed the group in 1959, alongside brothers Pooch, Butch, Chubby and Tiny.

The iconic R&B act found fame with their hit songs, including Heaven Must be Missing An Angel.

They recorded popular songs including Bee Gees hit More Than A Woman, which entered into the Pop Top 40 in 1977.
