Rylan in running to replace Eamonn Holmes on This Morning as viewers love him

Rylan Clark is said to be in the running to replace Eamonn Holmes on This Morning, according to an ITV source.

The source exclusively tells OK! that viewers of the ITV show “love” the 33 year old presenter.

They said: “In a dream world they’d also love Rylan to come back.

“He’s a big hit with viewers and had a great rapport with Rochelle Humes when they presented the show together in 2019.”

The source added: “Rylan left the TM family in 2019 and it was a big blow, they’d love him back.”

At the weekend it was reported that Eamonn was leaving This Morning after 15 years to join news channel GB News.

According to reports from The Mirror, a source told them Eamonn will be “missed” on This Morning but it’s “the right time”.

“Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era,” the insider told the publication.

“He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV.”

It comes after he and his wife Ruth Langsford were replaced in their regular Friday presenting slot on the show by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

The pair still continue to fill in for main presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield during the school holidays however.

Earlier this year Rylan, who has been presenting Strictly: It Takes Two, opened up about the real reason he quit the show two years ago.

Admitting he found the job too comfortable, he said: "I haven't been on This Morning for about two years now. I had a lovely time there and learnt a lot when it came down to working live and going on to host the show eventually.”

He continued: "I took a step back and I think it was the right decision for me to get out of that bubble of not really pushing myself."

Rylan regularly appeared on the programme to present the celebrity gossip segment and fill in for the regular presenters.

The former X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother star would be a good fit to replace Eamonn as he is close friends with the 61 year old and his wife.

Rylan recently exclusively told us Ruth is one of his favourite people to enjoy a drink with and a night out with her is like “therapy”.

He said: “I’ll tell you who’s great on a night out, Ruth Langsford. She is an absolute goer. We just sit there, we talk, we slag people off. It’s a little bit like therapy.”

Last week Betfair said that Rylan was 8/1 to replace Eamonn in the role, with I’m A Celebrity star Vernon Kay the favourite at 2/1.

Also ahead of Rylan is actor and presenter Bradley Walsh at 5/2.
