Sarah Ferguson quotes late Queen in emotional tribute to sissy Lisa Marie Presley at memorial

Sarah Ferguson has paid tribute to her “sissy”, Lisa Marie Presley, where she offered her support to the late singer’s children.

The ex-wife of Prince Andrew, Sarah, better known as Fergie, stood up on stage to deliver a passionate tribute to Lisa Marie during a public memorial service at Lisa Marie's late father Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

Lisa Marie died of cardiac arrest, on 12 January, aged just 54, after being rushed to hospital.

The Duchess of York quoted some famous words from her late former mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, as she said, "grief is the price we pay for love".

Sarah, 63, said: “Sissie, this is for you with affection. My late mother-in-law used to say that nothing can be said, can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments because grief is the price we pay for love, and how right she was.

“Today we talk about Lisa Marie. We look at Priscilla, as a mother to Lisa Marie. We look to Lisa Marie and say you lost a son. Mothers losing children, there are no words for it.

“So, today we talk about action and action is the way we can go forward, we can light the flame, so for Riley, Harper and Finley, and for the entire family, we march forward in support of you, all of us are with you and we will help you as best we can. If you just put out your hand, we will be there.”

She was followed by singer Alanis Morissette, who performed an emotional rendition of her song Rest.

The memorial service saw the husband of Lisa Marie's eldest daughter, Riley, read out a tribute to her mother, which she said: "I remember how it felt to be loved by the most loving mother I've ever known."

On behalf of Riley, Ben Peterson-Smith read: "I'm a product of your heart. My sisters are a product of your heart. My brother is a product of your heart.

"I hope you finally know how loved you are."

Fergie and Lisa Marie became friends in the US in 2009, and Lisa Maire later attended the Duchess' 50th birthday party at London's Lanesborough Hotel that same year.

Lisa Marie Presley also stayed at the duchess's villa in Marbella to privately grieve the death of her ex-husband Michael Jackson.
