In her upcoming memoir titled ‘Rememberings’, the ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer claims she was 18 at the time and that she ended her relationship with the Christian minister after getting into a car accident.
AceShowbiz –Sinead O’Connor might have regretted one of her past flings. Revealing that she once had an affair with a married 47-year-old minister when she was a teenager, the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer admitted she was such an “idiot” at that time.
In her upcoming memoir titled “Rememberings”, the 54-year-old divulged that she was 18 when she was introduced to the minister of a London Baptist church. “We had somewhat of an affair,” she confessed, according to the Independent. “The minister had convinced me (since I was young and an idiot) that his wife didn’t understand him. I was his true love and all that stuff.”
“After a while I realised I was being duped for the shtup,” the Irish native acknowledged. “Sitting by myself until our weekly hour-long visit, not going out with anyone else, I was like Whitney bloomin’ Houston, saving all my love, like a total moron.”
“The Last Day of Our Acquaintance” songstress further spilled that she ended her relationship with the minister after she got into a car accident. On the reason why, he allegedly refused to help her after the crash because he didn’t want to be seen with her.
Elsewhere in her memoir, Sinead got candid about her past romance with fellow musician Peter Gabriel, where their breakup led her to write the song “Thank You for Hearing Me”. She recalled, “I had had an on-and-off fling with him in which I was basically weekend p***y…. That would be the kindest way to describe it… And once I got fed up with being weekend p***y, I wrote this sort of split-up song.”
Sinead also wrote about “A Perfect Indian”, in which she talked about Daniel Day-Lewis. “People think we had an affair but we never did,” she emphasized. “We were getting very friendly until I blew the friendship by losing my temper with him one night in a crazy way that I do sometimes.”
Sinead also explained the reason why she used “A Perfect Indian” to refer to the actor. “At the time, he was making the movie ‘The Last of the Mohicans’, so that’s why it’s called ‘A Perfect Indian’. It’s not that I was in love with him (I wasn’t). But I was very fond of him as a friend,” she pointed out.
