Slayer have announced they are co-sponsoring the No. 54 entry at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway with Rick Ware Racing to promote the final leg of the band’s worldwide farewell tour.
Veteran driver JJ Yeley will take control of the car, dubbed the Slayer Chevrolet, in the race on Saturday, August 17.
Yeley shared the joy of the legendary metal band sponsoring his all-black Camaro by posting a picture of the race car on Twitter.
“It’s exciting and awesome that Rick and the boys are wearing the Slayer banner making us a part of NASCAR history,” Slayer bassist/singer Tom Araya said in a statement.
“NASCAR racing and Slayer have a lot in common. Both are extremely fast, intense and aggressive. I can think of nothing more rad than seeing the Slayer logo on Rick’s car with JJ behind the wheel,” added guitarist Kerry King.
King said he is sure “Disciples of everyone involved will be completely stoked on the bond between these two fierce entities.”
