BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has taken to Twitter to react to claims he’s taking part in the latest series of The Masked Singer. The BBC newsreader, 44, recently finished in fifth place on popular BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing last month, but viewers of The Masked Singer were convinced he was behind one of the costumes, especially that of Doughnut.
What is this about?
In view of his 747,600 Twitter followers, the BBC star expressed his puzzlement at claims he’s featuring on the show.
Dan wrote: “What is this about?” followed by a laughing face emoji.
The star was responding to a tweet by a surprised social media user who guessed that the sports reporter was behind one of the masks.
“Can’t believe @mrdanwalker is on Masked Singer so soon after Strictly,” Liam Bennett wrote.

Following Dan’s tweet, his followers took to the comments to weigh in on whether the BBC star could be behind one of the masks.
Referencing Dan’s time on Strictly, Twitter user CandyB wrote: “You have done dancing… now off to singing?”
“And can you sing?” probed Graham Pindar.
Dave Wragg jibed: “Have you heard Dan sing? Obviously not.”
Others thought he could be the person behind the doughnut costume, with Liam Bennett leaving a series of doughnut emojis and a thinking face.
Becki Corbett echoed the idea, writing: “Are you a doughnut?” followed by a laughing face.
However, the idea was promptly shut down by Garry Hines who claimed that ex-footballer Michael Owen was behind the character.
Elsewhere on Twitter, viewers of the popular ITV were also guessing that the BBC star was behind one of the masks.
Danielle Scapens penned: “My 7-year-old thinks that #Doughnut in the @MaskedSingerUK is @mrdanwalker – I’m dubious.”
Hayden Williams agreed, commenting: “I think it’s Dan Walker He done BBC match of the day.”
Earlier today, Dan told his Instagram fans that he was busy in the garden with one of his sons.
Posting a snap of the muddy ground, Dan documented his Saturday with his “distracted” son.
He wrote: “How is your Saturday going? I’m trying to dig out a path with a son is constantly distracted by swingball.”
Dan has also spoken about not joining his Strictly professional partner Nadiya Bychkova, on the live tour, which kicked off two days ago.
In December last year, the BBC presenter told how he will not be taking part due to his many work commitments and wanting to spend time with his family.
He added he will be buying tickets to watch the show with his wife and children.
