Since Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, fans have been calling for Oprah to do other interviews. The former talk show host is adept at getting people to answer questions and open up like none other. For this reason, some Britney Spears fans have been hoping that Britney would sit down with Oprah and tell everyone what is really going on with her conservatorship.
Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008 when her father, Jamie Spears, was named the permanent conservator of her affairs. At the time, their attorney Andrew Wallet, was named the permanent co-conservator of her estate. In September of 2019, her father’s role was transferred to her care manager, Jodi Montgomery, due to Jamie’s health.
In a Nov. hearing in Los Angeles, Britney’s attorney informed the judge that the singer did not want to perform again until her father was no longer a part of her conservatorship.
“My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She also stated that she will not perform as long as her father is in charge of her career,” her lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III said during the hearing, according to according to Us Weekly. “We are really at a crossroads.”
Would Britney Spears do an interview with Oprah?
Since Britney is under such a tight conservatorship, it’s doubtful that her father would allow her to do an interview with Oprah or anyone else. But if she could choose for herself, Oprah would be one of Britney’s top choices to tell her story to, sources told HollywoodLife.
“Oprah would be one of Britney’s first choices for an interview, but it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen,” a source close to Britney’s family told the outlet. “She can’t do it right now anyways. But should the conservatorship change, she would be open to it. It’s not anywhere near the top of her mind right now. Even if she could, this is months away from happening.”
In the past, interviews have gone poorly for Britney, a fact which was highlighted in the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which showed her being berated by Diane Sawyer in a 2003 interview.

“Britney doesn’t like to do interviews,” the source continued. “She’s afraid of saying the wrong thing. It scares her. She’s very quiet and shy and doesn’t like to do a lot of press, which is why for years you haven’t seen her do it. But, if she did decide to do an interview, it would be with a big name of someone she trusts, just like Oprah.”
Since entering the conseravatorship, Britney has stayed largely out of the spotlight in regards to interviews. In recent years, the only direct communication Britney’s fans have had with her has been through her social media accounts.
