The Air Max 90 shows the duality of Mexican wrestling by splitting its shoes between “Los Rudos” (bad guys) and “Los Tecnicos” (good guys). Each foot offers inverse black and white colorblocking atop a mesh, patent leather and satin build. “Los Rudos” and “Los Tecnicos” appear on the left and right shoes, respectively, while luchador head graphics on lateral heels work with colorful tongue tags to supply extra flair. Insoles veer between blue and yellow, and both read “Lucha Libre!” on the heel to complete the look.
On the other hand, the Blazer Mid ‘77 Vintage offers a less existential inspiration, namely the masks worn by luchadors. It features a striking green satin quarter panel, collar and toebox that’s rimmed with a wealth of sandy snakeskin accents on the toe cap, mudguard, eyestays and heel. There’s also dashes of gold on the midfoot Swooshes, heel branding and tongue tags, with black collar linings, midsoles and outsoles working with “Lucha Libre!”-branded insoles for a finishing dash of flair.
Expect the Nike Air Max 90 and Blazer Mid ‘77 Vintage “Lucha Libre” to release via Nike SNKRS Japan come September 16. The Air Max 90 is a men’s silhouette while the Blazer Mid ‘77 Vintage is a women’s style that’ll be available in an extended size run.
