There’s so much queer entertainment to look forward to in the near future!
Comic-Con took over downtown San Diego this past weekend, and LGBTQ geeks and pop-culture enthusiasts from all over the world were showered with blessings in the form of new, queer movie and TV-show release announcements!
Here are five queer AF projects that we’re so excited for!

If you’re not already watching She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, you’re really missing out. DreamWorks and Netflix’s modern-day adaptation of the classic cartoon series from the ’80s is empowering, visually stunning, and features some of the best queer characters on TV right now! The official trailer for the third season of the series was announced during SDCC this year, and if it’s anything like the first two seasons that feature queer princesses and gay dads galore, then LGBTQ fans are in for a serious treat!
All episodes of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Season 3 premiere on August 2 on Netflix!
2.Steven Universe: The Movie

She-Ra isn’t the only super-inclusive animated series that made a splash at SDCC! Cartoon Network’s extremely popular, extremely queer show, Steven Universe, also dropped the action-packed trailer for its newest project, Steven Universe: The Movie. It was also revealed that the new film will jump ahead two years into the future from where the series left off which means the stakes are high and all of our favorite characters have gotten older. (Did we also mention our baby, Steven, has a neck now?! Because yeah, that’s also a thing.)
Steven Universe: The Movie premieres September 2 on Cartoon Network!
3.Batwoman

Warner Bros. might have skipped Comic-Con this year, but that doesn’t mean that DC fans were left wanting. The pilot of the CW’s highly-anticipated Batwoman series — starring Orange Is the New Black alum, Ruby Rose, as Kate Kane, the show’s openly lesbian, titular hero — screened during the con. Fans who couldn’t physically be in attendance were also blessed with a new teaser trailer for the show, and although it’s only a minute long, we can already tell that Batwoman is going to be one of our guilty TV pleasures!
Batwoman premieres October 6 on The CW!
4.Thor: Love and Thunder
Marvel Studios literally took over Hall H the Saturday night of Comic-Con for their annual panel, and while they announced a whopping 11 (yes, 11) brand-spankin’ new titles set to hit theaters or TVs within the next two years, one of the standouts was definitely Thor: Love and Thunder.
Besides Oscar-winner Natalie Portman making her comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Love and Thunder will FINALLY explore the bisexuality of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, something the star mentioned during the Hall H panel. Our geeky, queer hearts exploded in excitement as soon as we heard Tessa say that Valkyrie’s first priority was finding her queen! *shrieks in gay excitement*
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theaters on November 5, 2021!
5.And lastly, The Eternals
Another one of the exciting announcements made during Marvel’s Hall H panel at SDCC was that of The Eternals, a new title to the MCU that will feature Oscar-winner and longtime LGBTQ activist, Angelina Jolie, alongside other stars such as Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, and Don Lee.
Not only is the cast incredibly diverse, but The Eternals is also rumored to feature an openly gay or bisexual Asian character played by an actor of the same background which is a groundbreaking feat considering all the white- and straight-washing in the film industry.
The Eternals is set to hit theaters on November 6, 2020!
