Husband and wife file for annulment after both realising they were gay

A husband and wife have filed for an annulment – after they both realised that they are gay.

Scott Turner-Smith and wife Jo Turner said it was a "hoot" to sign the paperwork saying their marriage was a "mistake".

Scott posted an emotional status on Twitter revealing it felt 'freeing to be able to be my whole self' after announcing he was gay.

Dental nurse Jo, who he appeared to hitch in August 2018, revealed the pair had 'a hoot' signing a nullity petition on August 24 – just a year after they said "I do".

The ex-couple quipped that the screenplay of their drama will hit screens next year.

Jo tweeted: "We have had a hoot when signing the nullity petition today – 'invalid consent by mistake – turns out we're both gay'.

"Enjoy that, Judge. The screenplay will be out next year."

Meanwhile Scott, from Dundee, Scotland, but living in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, only asked that Emma Thompson pen the script.

Social media users praised the pair and claimed it sounded like something from the pages of a Richard Curtis screenplay.

Laur Evans wrote: "Mate. I cackled. It seems to you both bypassed the bisexual phase which, to be perfectly blunt, I highly recommend."

HT wrote: "Richard Curtis probably writing screenplay now."

Scott's original tweet read: "I've composed and deleted this tweet a thousand times, but here it goes: I'm gay.

"Those I've told so far have been wonderful, and for that I'm more grateful than they know.

"It feels freeing to be able to be my whole self, and I'm excited to find out what's next."

Jo then joked Suranne Jones would be the perfect actress to play her on the big screen and invited Ryan Reynolds to tackle the role of her soon-to-be ex hubby.

Jo wrote: "Hmm, [Ryan] Reynolds are you free to play my soon-to-be ex-husband in a drama where we had a straight wedding and then both realised we're gay? But it was a good party."

GBBO fan Scott, who stood as a Tory councillor in the 2019 Rossendale Borough Council election, wrote: "I will accept no less than Emma Thompson to write it."

Jo then revealed that when her girlfriend Wendy Rennie shared her story in the love triangle saga it would 'break Twitter'.

In a lengthy Twitter thread entitled 'How to get the girl. (An ineffective lesbian's guide)', Jo's new girlfriend, junior doctor Wendy Rennie, revealed she'd fancied Jo for two years.

New beau Wendy said she'd tried to woo her with brownies, but only got together after Jo announced she was leaving Scott.

Wendy wrote that she felt "butterflies to the max" when Jo walked onto her ward.

In a series of tips on attracting a partner, she wrote: "Bake her brownies, steal cake from around the hospital, etc…
