Sarah Sabbath has “no regrets” about her tattoo journey – even though her eyeball inkings temporarily blinded her.
Battling sight problems as a result of her body modification hasn’t put her off the needle though.
The 26-year-old, from El Paso, Texas, told Truly : “When I got my eyes done, the guy didn’t put enough saline solution into it.
“There was too much ink and not enough water solution so I went blind from my eye tattoos.
“I had a very difficult time doing anything – I could not watch TV, I didn’t like being around bright lights and I didn’t like being outside.
“I got very, very depressed from it.”
Sarah added: “I ended up going to an eye doctor and got several eye drops for my eyes. I feel better but they still bother me pretty badly.
“I don’t regret getting my eyes done because what has happened has made me a better person.”
Even though her passion has impacted her health, the model looks on her inkings positively.
She said: “I’ve always wanted to be covered in tattoos from head to toe.
“I think I’ve spent around $3,000-$4,000 on my tattoos. They help me to express myself, they help me to feel me.”
Sarah is so pleased she’s found her self-confidence as she was picked on when she was at school.
She said: “I was bullied a lot because I’m very hairy.
“I had bushy eyebrows, I had hairy legs, my teeth were very crooked.
“I don’t regret getting any of the tattoos because I feel more myself now than I did then.
“The pain I endured getting tattooed made me feel stronger about myself – I feel like a better person.”
While Sarah continues to get comments about her looks now that she’s an adult, she doesn’t let critics hold her back.
She revealed: “When people see my tattoos they think I’m snobby or mean or don’t have any eduction.
“I’ve had people when I’m walking down the street look at me like I’m going to steal something. Or they think I’m a criminal.
"But I don’t mind – everyone’s different so I’m not going to judge them for thinking the way that they do.
“Not everyone has the balls to express themselves the way I do.
“I’m not going to judge them because they judge me.”
