DEAR DEIDRE: MY boyfriend wants to move to the US, but I don’t want to go.
He’s trying to persuade me to accompany him, but I have never been there and neither has he.
He has made a lot of friends online who have convinced him to move, even offering to buy him a plane ticket.
One says he can find him work and another is promising him the apartment he’s moving out of.
None of this seems real to me and I’m worried they are stretching the truth.
I’m female and 23 and my boyfriend’s 24.
I did pick up he wasn’t happy with some things in his life when we first got together, but running away to another country isn’t the way to solve them.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your boyfriend’s being naive.
He doesn’t really know these so-called friends or what they really want from him.
He wants a fresh start, but his problems will follow him wherever he goes.
If he’s troubled, suggest he talks to The Mix (themix.org.uk, 0808 808 4994) who help under-25s with any problem.
He may feel different about moving afterwards.
