But a new model has hit shelves this week, and it's said to cook quality grub in just 15 minutes.

Ninja Kitchen – the UK’s leading air fryer and multicooker brand – recently unveiled the Speedi Rapid Cooker.
Designed to create restaurant-quality meals in under 15 minutes, the Speedi Rapid Cooker and Air Fryer allows home chefs to achieve multi-textured meals from their own kitchens.
It comes complete with a 0-in-1 functionality, which is said to make it super easy to cook an entire meal in one pot by using two modes.
These modes include:
- Rapid Cooker Mode – featuring steam and sir fry, steam and bake, steam and speedi meals functions
- Air fry mode – featuring air fry, bake and roast, grill, dehydrate, sear and sauté, slow cook and sous vide functions
With 5.7-litre capacity, the Speedi Rapid Cooker and Air Fryer can create meals for up to four people at one time.
Alongside the launch of the Speedi Rapid Cooker and Air Fryer, Ninja Kitchen has also launched the Speedi Meal Builder, which is a one-stop site full of recipe inspiration for Speedi chefs.
Over the past few months many savvy chefs suggested air fryers have helped them cut back on spending when it comes to trying to tackle the cost of living crisis.
One expert even claimed you can cut the cost of cooking by switching your an electric oven for an air fryer.
Back in November sustainability guru Alan Pears, from RMIT University in Melbourne, claimed the appliance uses half of the electricity.
At the time, he said: "Air fryers use half of the electricity, and you get the same result."
There are many reasons why it's cheaper, but mainly it's because of how fast the kitchen appliance heats up.
He told Renew Magazine: "An air fryer heats up in a few minutes, much faster than a conventional oven, while drawing about two-thirds as much instantaneous power.
"It also uses a combination of radiant heat, which is instant, and high-speed circulation of hot air.
"High air flow over food dramatically increases the rate of heat transfer to the food."
The Speedi Rapid Cooker and Air Fryer will be available on Ninja Kitchen for £249.99 from this Thursday, January 26.
