Strict clothing protocol England’s World Cup WAGs must stick to while in Qatar

While the partners of the England squad are well used to dressing to impress, they’re taking a much more low-key approach at this tournament in order to be respectful of the Middle-Eastern country’s strict rules.

Instead of crop tops and figure-hugging dresses, the ladies wore jeans paired with England shirts featuring their partners’ names emblazoned on the back, accessorising with extravagant designer handbags.

Among the rules given to the wives and girlfriends were to ditch miniskirts, tight shorts and low cut tops when they are out in Qatar, as well as to consider a scarf to wear round their necks so as to not reveal their figures – or they could face jail.

To help them with modest dressing, personal stylist Connie Jones was hired by Marcus Rashford’s fiancée Lucia Loi, John Stones’ partner Liv Naylor and Luke Shaw’s partner Anouska Santos, The Sun reports.

“This World Cup is very different from the last one in Russia four years ago where the players wives and girlfriends could show off their bodies and figures in items such as denim shorts and skimpy tops,” a source said.

"The last thing they want is to offend anybody in Qatar. They have a lot of self-respect and want to show the same respect to the people there but at the same time enjoy themselves.”

The WAGs have already reportedly received a warning from the FA too, as they were warned they "are not above the law" in Qatar.

According to The Sun, in a secret briefing last month, the FA told them: "It is important to understand that you and your husband or partner are not above the law here.

"Every order is in place to protect both yourselves and your partner or husband in any case of indiscretion. Fines and prosecution are commonplace."

Whilst in Qatar the women will stay on the £1 billion luxury cruise ship MSC World Europa, where they’ll be able to enjoy copious amounts of bubbly – despite Qatar’s strict alcohol laws on land.

The 205,700-tonne £1 billion ship homes up to 6,762 guests with 2,633 cabins available.

It also boasts some extremely impressive amenities with 33 restaurants, six swimming pools and 14 whirlpools all on offer, as well as a theatre which seats 1,153 guests, making for the perfect spot to watch the World Cup.

A 11-deck high helter skelter, titled The Venom Drop, can also be found on board with a 75m slide – the tallest slide on any ship in the world.

There's even a Sportplex complete with bumper cars and kids' clubs to help little ones enjoy their time on board.

The boat will be docked off the coast of Doha, with the England team staying nearby at the Souq Al Wakra hotel.
