It was almost 30 years ago when Brian May released his debut solo album Back to the Light. While just last month the Queen guitarist unleashed a remastered version of the record which had previously be unavailable for years. And now, after a few teases this week, the 74-year-old has announced a physical release for the title track and a stunning new music video.
Back to the Light: The Time Traveller sees Brian channel Back to the Future, as he finds himself back in 1992 thanks to some masterful visual effects wizardry.
Wearing a fedora in a smoky atmosphere that wouldn’t look out of place in noir classic The Third Man, the Queen legend becomes an audience member at his own solo concert.
But it isn’t long before older Brian is rocking on stage with his younger self, in a duet that a Johnny B Goode strumming Marty McFly would be proud of.
On Back to the Light, the 74-year-old said: “I feel kind of affectionate looking back. Looking back at me 30 years ago, a young man with no idea of the incredible journey that was still to come”
