The first teaser trailer for Adam McKay’s newest sure-to-be-blockbuster, Don’t Look Up, is out, and while it doesn’t reveal a whole lot of plot, it does offer a hefty serving of star power.
The opening shot features Leonardo DiCaprio in the midst of what appears to be a panic attack, and then immediately cuts to quick clips of the jam-packed cast, which includes Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep (playing the president of the United States, of course), Jonah Hill (portraying Streep’s son and chief of staff), Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, and even Ariana Grande and Scott Mescudi (rapper Kid Cudi) in their major motion picture debuts.
The film marks Lawrence’s return to the silver screen since her role as Raven in 2019’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Chris Evans is also reportedly making a small but memorable cameo in the highly anticipated comedy, along with additional appearances from Hollywood favorites such as Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, and more.
Per Entertainment Weekly, the feature centers on two astronomers (DiCaprio and Lawrence) as they work together to warn the world about a looming apocalyptic threat, an approaching comet. According to DiCaprio, the upcoming film will offer “an incredibly timely message about society, how we communicate, our current priorities, and the climate crisis into an absurdly funny yet important movie.”
Don’t Look Up his theaters December 10 and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix come December 24. Watch the official teaser trailer for the film above.
