Kerry Katona says exes left her with PTSD after cheating and drug abuse hell

Kerry Katona reckons she’s been left with PTSD after her three failed marriages .

But she hopes she will finally get her happy ever after as she prepares to wed for the fourth time.

The reality favourite was married to singer Brian McFadden who cheated, taxi driver Mark Croft who helped squander her fortune as she battled a cocaine addiction and George Kay, who beat her up and died in 2019 after a drugs overdose.

Kerry, 40, says: “I’ve definitely got post-traumatic stress from my marriages.

“Especially from my last marriage – we never got divorced me and George – I couldn’t think of anything worse than getting married again.”

But after meeting fiancé Ryan Mahoney she’s ready to tie the knot again.

“He’s completely changed everything,” says Kerry. “We’re all entitled to be happy and we all deserve to be loved no matter what. Everyone deserves a happy ever after. But it’s taken me a long time to realise that.

“It’s not like when I was 15 I was like, ‘When I grow up I’m going to get married four times and have five children with different surnames and three different dads – I can’t wait.’

“Life is so messed up and completely out of your hands some of the time, so you just have to play the cards you’ve been dealt.

“But I wouldn’t be on the path I’m on without those marriages. I wouldn’t have met Ryan if I hadn’t been with George. I am where I’m supposed to be right now.”

The former Atomic Kitten star has been declared bankrupt twice but is close to being a millionaire again thanks to her success on adult subscription site OnlyFans where she posts sexy pics.

But she claims her first bankruptcy in 2008 was a good thing – because it got rid of the people who were just after her money.

Kerry says: “I lost everything, I’ve been bankrupt twice, I lost all my deals doing drugs, lost my houses, my cars.

“My first bankruptcy was the best thing that could have happened to me. All those hangers-on all just disappeared.

“Now I’m back and close to being a millionaire again and it’s all for me. For me, Ryan and the kids that’s it.”

Kerry remembers being dubbed the “English Britney Spears” at the height of her struggles.

Britney, 39, has been back in the headlines as she seeks to overturn her conservatorship, the controlling hold she was placed under in 2008 when she faced a mental-health crisis.

“I used to get called the English Britney Spears back in the day,” says Kerry. “I know what it’s like to have a breakdown, I know what it’s like to be at rock bottom.

“I lost everything because I trusted the wrong people. I wasn’t well enough to look after myself and nobody was willing to help me – I had to help myself.”

The Warrington-born star is most proud of how she’s raised her children – Molly, 19, and Lilly-Sue, 18, with McFadden, Heidi, 14, and Max, 13, with Croft, and Dylan-Jorge, seven, with Kay.

Kerry feels it’s inevitable her children will follow her into showbiz and she’s happy to support them whether they want to be a “lollipop lady or lap dancer”.

She says: “They were born into this industry and they’ve not really known any different. Lily wants to be a human rights lawyer but she’s just stepping her toe into the big showbiz pool at the moment and she’s getting offers left, right and centre.

“For Lily I think it’s a natural course to come into the industry.

“Molly’s just trying to get into the acting world, she’s doing a lot of drama over in Ireland, doing courses out there. She’s a great songwriter too.

“Even Max, Heidi and DJ were already in it since the day they were born.

“Whatever they want to do as long as they’re happy and passionate about it, they’ve got my support whether it’s being a lollipop lady or being a lap dancer.”

Kerry has been open about surgery, once spending £15,000 on liposuction and undergoing two tummy tucks. She’s also just had her fifth breast operation to have her chest reduced. And she believes her experiences have proved a deterrent to the surgeon’s knife.

Meanwhile, Kerry has already chosen her dress for her wedding to Ryan – “we’re just b*****ing off to Vegas, me, him and the kids, there’s no date, no rush” – thanks to an appearance on the upcoming series of Say Yes To The Dress Lancashire.

Viewers will see her try on three gowns to find her perfect dress with the help of presenter Gok Wan.
