Liam Payne had to hide in club toilet as Roman Kemps pal made DJ play 1D song

Liam Payne had to keep himself out of view during a night out with Roman Kemp and his pals at a swanky R&B nightclub.

Roman, 29, explained that he was celebrating his birthday several years ago with some of his nearest and dearest friends when they decided to hit up a club.

While Liam may have been a member of one of the biggest boybands, it seems he can't escape One Direction songs – even on nights out.

Roman's friends couldn't resist a cheeky dig at Liam and instructed the DJ to play one of the tracks from his back catalogue – despite not being in a pop music venue.

The Celebrity Gogglebox star said: "Liam Payne was there, he had come to celebrate my birthday, very kind of him.

"I'm there, a couple of my best mates, and one of my best mates Matt who I've spoken about on the show [Capital FM Breakfast] a few times, he's an absolute liability.

"He spotted Liam and he's gone up to the DJ, he's come back to me and goes 'Ro, guess what I've done…' and I'm like 'Oh no, no', keeping in mind that this is a hip hop night club."

Roman continued: "He's requested that the DJ play History from One Direction.

"I'm like 'Mate, this is not good, Liam's a mate of mine' but it's still professional, I've got to keep cool with the celebs, right?

"Liam is nowhere to be seen when History is playing, all of a sudden when the song finishes, Liam comes out and he's like 'here, had to hide in the toilets, some idiot started playing History!'"

Roman recently announced that he would be sharing his first book, focusing on mental health after suffering with his mental health for over a decade.

The star opened up during a BBC documentary explaining that he was sitting on his bedroom floor when he called his mum, Shirlie Kemp and asked for help after he came off antidepressants.

Now, he is hoping that his self-penned book sharing his "honest feelings" will prevent any more lives from being taken.

Roman Kemp Are You Really OK can be pre-ordered here and will be released on October 27.
