The Apprentice winner Alana Spencer has been rushed to hospital after falling eight feet from a ladder and cracking four ribs.

Alana, who owns bakery business Ridiculously Rich by Alana, was pictured strapped to a bulky stretcher as she was carted away by paramedics, with straps bisecting her body and a headrest keeping her neck steady.

The star was busy setting up a new coffee shop business in Wales after rising to fame as the winner of the BBC One show in 2016.

But things quickly went wrong on Wednesday (June 8) when she fell eight feet from a ladder and landed on the metal rungs, which resulted in her cracked ribs.

She is currently recovering at home, but it could take up to six weeks for her to fully heal.

Speaking to WalesOnline, Alana explained: “I like to get stuck in and involved myself so I was just trying to decorate our upstairs seating area and I totally lost balance.

“I fell off a ladder and ended up cracking four of my ribs. I fell eight feet and landed on the metal ladder, which did the damage.

"We called an ambulance and I got taken to hospital. They tried to make me walk, but I just couldn't. They ended up having to put me on a stretcher and carrying me down the stairs.

“I had a CT scan and was quite lucky that there was no other damage as breaking ribs can be quite serious. I feel quite grateful really."

Opening up further on Instagram, she explained: “People often ask me why I insist upon doing all of my own manual work and have been telling me for years that I should always hire professionals instead.

“Well, today, for the first time ever, I think I’m prepared to admit… that they may be right! #FourBrokenRibs.”

Alana’s fans soon rushed to support her, with one writing: “Oh no! Hope you feel better soon!”

Another quipped: “Ahh sh** babe. You still baking or what…?”

As someone else penned: “4 broken ribs and you still have a smile on your face! Hoping you have a speedy recovery!”

Alana’s new coffee shop is due to open later this month after Alana’s injury set her back a week, at St Catherine’s Walk in Carmarthen.
