Westlife return with best show of their lives as they announce UK arena tour

Irish boyband Westlife have announced a huge comeback arena tour for 2022, as the lads reunite and come back together as a much-loved pop group once again.

The lads – who are now all fathers – planned to tour in 2019 but were stopped in their tracks by Covid-19.

Now, they're back with a bang and ready to also drop their upcoming new album Wild Dreams.

The lads exclusively chatted to the Daily Star about their upcoming plans, with them revealing how excited they are to get back on the road.

Kian Egan said: "Me and the lads missed each other throughout the lockdown and didn't see each other for well over a year so it is going to be fantastic to get back on the road together again next year!

"We'll be making up for lost time and will be giving our fans the best shows of our lives."

He continued: "After the terrible 18 months we've all had, we're giving this tour our all. I think it'll be the best Westlife tour yet with some amazing surprises thrown in. We'll be playing all of our greatest hits and some of our new songs which have gone down so well.

"We're also excited to be releasing our new album next month. Our last album, in 2019, went straight to No1 and our last tour sold out completely. A sell out tour is where we want to be again."

Bandmate Mark Feehily also added: "So much planning and preparation is already going into the 2022 tour. The shows are going to be amazing experiences for Westlife fans.

"It isn't just our older fans either, we're seeing younger people coming to the shows now who are loving our new music. It is fantastic to see. There is no better feeling than when we're on stage and thousands of fans are singing our greatest hits with us. After all these years it is still like a dream."

This comes a fortnight after the Daily Star spoke exclusively to Westlife once more when we chatted to Shane Filan about the lads return to the music world and past success.

Shane ended up recalling some seriously horrifying fan encounters from back in their heyday, including theft and an on-stage assault.

The 42-year-old explained that they had been together on and off for the past 22 years, with a lot changing over that period with them all now being proud dads.

But this didn't stop him reminiscing on his younger days – after the group shot to international fame in 1998.

However, not all of the memories were fond ones, as he said the band's "monstrous" fanbase turned darker at some points and have even robbed and assaulted members.

Shane said: "When we were younger, fans used to come in thousands, thousands of people would meet you at the airport.

"It was dangerous, there were people robbing us, taking chains off Kian's neck, he had a ring pulled off his finger.

"They used to pull our hair out, they literally used to take and pull out locks of our hair."

Tickets for Westlife go on-sale to the general public on Friday 5th November at 9:30am at www.livenation.co.uk/
