Copacabana singer Barry Manilow left This Morning viewers stunned after they claimed he looked "unrecognisable".

The 78 year old flaunted his youthful looks while appearing via video link during the latest episode of the ITV show.

But before presenter Alison Hammond discussed the highlights of his career she couldn't help but mention Barry's ageless appearance.

She said: "I’ve got to say, firstly, you look incredible. What is the secret? You are not telling what the secret is."

Trying to brush off her compliments, the singer replied: "It’s luck, it’s just blind luck," he laughed.

He added: "I’m really very old, please let’s not talk about it. It’s really depressing."

But Alison wasn't the only one who was taken aback by his appearance as viewers at home were also quick to comment on how different he looked.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "#ThisMorning for a man of his age, not a wrinkle in sight!! It’s astonishing."

Another shared: "Crazy to think Mick Jagger is the same age as Barry Manilow, yet is dancing around on stage in 2 hour concerts. Some old people built different."

A third joked: "Not Alison asking Barry how he looks so young."

"Can't believe @AlisonHammond managed to keep a straight face while she asked Barry Mannilow how he kept looking so young!!" A fourth exclaimed.

In 2017, Barry hit headlines after he opened up about his sexuality for the first time.

He also confirmed that he was in a relationship and married to manager Garry Kief, who he had tied the knot with a few years prior after a long romance that was initially kept under wraps.

Talking about his life away from the limelight, he said: "I'm so private and I always have been."

"When they found out that Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful – strangers commenting, 'Great for you!' I’m just so grateful for it. Thank goodness we’re still together and we’re in good shape, too."

However the star also confessed that coming out sooner would have impacted his career in a negative way.

He added: "It’s absolutely wonderful. I went through many, many years when I couldn’t do that. It would have killed my career."
