ABC has just wrapped up the thrilling first half of Big Sky’s second season, starring Vikings’ Katheryn Winnick in the leading role as freelance detective Jenny Hoyt. The series has also been a hit worldwide thanks to its release on Disney+, but fans of the show have a long wait ahead before the mystery continues.
The latest episode of the series, The End Has No End, brought Ronald (played by Brian Geraghty) back into the fold in a big way.
However, there are still plenty more mysteries for Jenny and her partner Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) to unravel in Big Sky’s follow-up season.
Unfortunately, the smash hit new detective drama won’t be back for the rest of the year.
Most of the USA’s biggest network shows have now started their Christmas hiatus, with plans to return in January or February 2022.
As Big Sky aired relatively late into December, the second season won’t be getting underway again until the second month of the new year.
Plus, with coverage on the Winter Olympics in Beijing coming up, it’s likely fans have a wait of more than two months before the show returns.
Fans haven’t taken the news well, especially after enduring another midseason hiatus after the first six episodes aired through September to November.
A number of Big Sky enthusiasts took to social media to level their complaints against the extended wait for more Hoyt and Dewell cases.
Twitter user Sandy said: “Waiting for the return of #BigSky is going to be tough. February is too long to wait.”
“Chile that ending and the show isn’t coming back until February,” fumed KaMz, adding several angry emojis.
And Done Caring asked: “Why they don’t tell us when in February @BigSkyABC will return?”
The latest episode hasn’t confirmed when exactly Big Sky season two episode nine will air.

However, it’s unlikely to have moved from its regular Wednesday night slot.
As the Winter Olympics won’t have wrapped up until Sunday, February 20, it’s a safe bet to assume Big Sky will continue the following week to avoid the primetime competition.
Other popular network dramas, such as Grey’s Anatomy, A Million Little Things, and Station 19, will also be returning in February.
This doesn’t ease fans’ anticipation, however, as the midseason finale of Big Sky ramped up the tension with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger.
Sinister character Ronald is back, and initially tipped off suspicions by stealing an RV truck at the beginning of the episode.
He then engaged in a heavy brawl with Cassie’s father, walking away only to be apprehended by Wolf Legarski (John Carroll Lynch).
The next day, Cassie arrives to the office to find her father lying dead on the floor, with Ronald being the obvious prime suspect.
A short promo has teased her father’s funeral and a vengeful Cassie, but little else is known about the next episode beyond that.
With the new year fast approaching, hopefully ABC will share some more details from episode nine in the coming weeks to tide fans over during the lengthy gap in the season.
Big Sky season two continues February 2022 on ABC.
