DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) is heading back to Saint Marie on Friday, January 7 as Death in Paradise returns for its 11th series on BBC One. And there’s a number of questions fans of the comedy-drama want answering, none least what the future holds for Neville’s love life after he tried to spark a flame with Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) in the show’s festive special.
However, when teasing what was to come on Thursday’s The One Show, actor Ralf did his best to keep spoilers well hidden.
And this meant even providing a rather blunt answer to one of host Ronan Keating’s questions.
After praising Death in Paradise’s newest sergeant Shantol Jackson, who joined Ralf by via video link on the programme, Ralf was asked by Ronan: “Does your character finally find love?”
The Death in Paradise leading man took a deep breath before promptly dodging the question.
“I would love to try and think of a clever way I could tell you something without giving anything away,” he replied.
“But I’m not that clever,” Ralf added. “So I’m gonna have to leave you to watch it.”
Realising his line of questioning was going nowhere, Ronan replied: “Okay, fair enough.”
The One Show hosts then turned their attention to Shantol who was interviewing from Ghana via video link.
“Shantol, congratulations on landing the role,” Alex Jones weighed in. “Now, Death in Paradise (is) hugely popular here in the UK,
“Did you know about it growing up, had you seen any of it?” Alex asked to which Shantol revealed her passion for the show was existent long before she landed a role.
“I did, thank you so much,” she began before shouting to her co-star: “Hey, Ralf!”
The four shared a giggle before Shantol explained: “I did, so actually the first series, our local TV station in Jamaica aired the first season of Death in Paradise.

“That was with Ben Miller [who played Richard Poole], so my dad and I used to watch it all the time when I was growing up.
“So when I landed the role, it was just very surreal,” she continued.
Shantol even admitted her father could barely contain his own excitement, as she said: “My dad kept asking me, ‘Who is still in the show from when we used to watch the show?’
“And, you know, ‘How is it going and what is it like working with these people that we used to watch many, many years ago?’”
“So it’s very surreal, I’m very excited and it’s an honour really,” Shantol concluded.
Shantol will make her debut in the season 11 premiere of Death in Paradise as Sergeant Naomi Thomas.
Naomi and fellow newcomer Marlon Pryce (Taj Miles) will be working alongside DI Neville for the duration of the all-new series.
Death in Paradise season 11 premieres on BBC One on Friday, January 7 at 9pm.
