Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) has experienced a difficult few weeks in Emmerdale – and the worst looks far from over. In scenes yet to air on the ITV soap, Marlon is set to be left brokenhearted when his proposal to Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) doesn’t exactly go to plan. Did he jump the gun and misread the situation?
Fans of the ITV soap will know Marlon has been through a lot recently.
As well as the troubles with the Woolpack, Marlon has also had to tackle daughter April Windsor’s (Amelia Flanagan) ordeal with trolls.
During the aftermath, Rhona pushed Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) in a rage, which led to a police enquiry.
Marlon was then hit with another bombshell when he discovered Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) had doped a horse when the duo were lost in the woods.
In an upcoming episode, Marlon becomes incandescent when Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) proposes ready meals at the pub and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) gives it the go-ahead.
A confused Marlon struggles to work out what Al’s game plan is, and it starts eating away at him.
Meanwhile, Rhona is set to get an important phone call notifying her that the case against her has been dropped.
But is it too late for her and Brenda to turn their relationship around following their altercation?
After an emotional week, Marlon’s heart takes over his head and he makes an impromptu proposal to Rhona.
However, she is convinced his proposal was purely a joke so he quickly tries to hide his hurt and embarrassment.
The pair, who have been on and off for years in soap, reconnected over the New Year period.
There was some confusion when Marlon and Rhona revealed their feelings separately to Paddy – but they begged him not to tell the other in case the feeling weren’t mutual.
However, a determined Marlon eventually won Rhona over when he dressed as Stan Laurel in a reference to the old films they used to enjoy together.
The pair eventually decided to make their relationship official after vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) burst in on their romp.
But next week it becomes apparent that Marlon and Rhona are not quite on the same wavelength when he pops the big question.
When he gets down on one knee and Rhona bursts into laughter, Marlon tries to conceal his pain.
If Rhona realises he was being serious, will she accept his proposal?
Or will the couple decide to part ways?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
