Ex Gogglebox star Paige Deville QUITS social media as she gets death threats after exit from show

FORMER Gogglebox star Paige Deville has taken a social media hiatus after getting death threats from trolls.

The Brummie lass, 25, sensationally left the show last month "due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions and zero aftercare support".

Since her shock exit, Paige received a lot of positive messages from fans but many were hateful.

Some followers told her to "kill herself" and the ongoing harrasSment sent her to a "dark place."

As a result, she's decided to take a break from social media.

Posting to her Instagram stories where a grey hoodie over her head, which she drew shut to hide her face, Paige announced her hiatus.

"Shutting off from the world of social media for a week or two, cya," she wrote looking sad.

Paige opened up to BirminghamLive about the toll the trolling took on her.

"I received a lot of positive messages when I left the show from people online," she explained.

"But I also received a lot of hate. Really nasty stuff. One person said 'just kill yourself.' I have lots of hateful messages like that.

"This is why I spoke out like I did about the lack of aftercare support shown by Channel 4 bosses. You need advice and support to deal with it. I am not a celebrity just a normal person and it is difficult.”

She continued: "This is the kind of abuse you have to deal with. I am quite a strong person and I can deal with it the majority of the time. But there are times when I do feel down and I read that and it is just horrible.

"Some people may not be in such a good place mentally and it could send them into a very dark place."

Her decision to leave the show even led to Happy Mondays' star Shaun Ryder slamming her.

Shaun, 59, who appeared on the celebrity version of the show with his bandmate Bez, cruelly questioned her decision to walk, telling the Daily Express: "What the f**k do you need support for on f****g Gogglebox for f**k's sake.

"Is she a bit of a snowflake or whatever they are called or woke?

You f****g turn on the telly and watch f****g five minutes of something and have a laugh. It’s f****g not dramatic is it?"

Yesterday Paige revealed she no longer speaks to her mum, after appearing on the show with her.

She tweeted: “To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over Gogglebox, My ‘mom’ is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a TV show.”

Paige and Sally shot to fame in 2019 when on the 14th series of the show.

They lasted four seasons before calling it quits.

When approached by The Sun Online, a Gogglebox spokesperson said: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”
