Friends hasn’t been on screens since the show came to an end on NBC back in 2004. Since then, fans have been hoping for a follow-up to the show in order to see the beloved characters one final time. The wait is nearly over, with the reunion set to air this month, May 27, 2021, on HBO Max but how can it be watched in the UK?

How to watch Friends Reunion in the UK

Currently, there is no official release date for the Friends Reunion in the UK, with the special premiering on May 27 in the United States.

The problem with the show airing in the UK comes down to the distribution rights, with HBO Max premiering the show in the USA.

HBO Max is a streaming platform that isn’t available in the UK, though most of HBO’s content is available on NOW, which is owned by Sky.

NOW has not announced if it will premiere the show, nor has HBO confirmed if it ever will give the reunion a UK release date. will update this story if details of a UK release date emerge.

For UK viewers, the original 10 seasons can be viewed on NOW, with them also being available on Comedy Central.

HBO bought the streaming rights for Friends for $425 million, taking the show away from other streaming platforms.

Fans may recall watching the show on Netflix, though it is no longer available there.

Any fans hoping the reunion will be put on Netflix UK will be disappointed, as there is no confirmation that this will happen.

The special is dropping on the one-year anniversary of HBO Max, with the streaming service keen to show its impressive catalogue of content to newcomers.

Other TV series on HBO Max includes Succession, Westworld, Watchmen, The Wire and Lovecraft Country, along with many others.

Friends: The Reunion, promises to bring back all of the main cast from the original series, coming together to catch up on where they are now and what has happened over the past 10 years.

The cast includes Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer.

The show will also feature several guest stars, including David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford and Cara Delevingne.

Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai will all also make guest appearances.

Fans have taken to Twitter to voice their excitement over the new show, with one saying: “OMG I literally can’t wait #FriendsReunion #friends #LadyGaga.” (sic)

Another fan added: “Fine U guess I’ll watch all of friends now.”

HBO Max has also released a trailer for the reunion, which it dropped yesterday, May 13, on its official YouTube channel.

The trailer features all the cast walking away from the camera together, with a slowed-down version of the original theme playing over the top.

At the end of the trailer, text appears which reads: “The one where they get back together.” 

Again, fans commented on the trailer, which is currently #2 on trending in the UK, with one saying: “That’s what you call legendary.”

A second said: “I don’t care what people say, but I’m crying. I have so many memories grew up with this show. This show means a lot to me, I learn how to speak English from this show. Thank you HBO”.
