Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins has revealed her leg went ‘completely numb’ requiring medical attention following her Covid battle this week.
The TV presenter was diagnosed with the virus last month and spent more than 10 days in self-isolation before returning to the GMB studio on Monday.
However, on Thursday, Charlotte, 46, experienced a health scare, which left her fearing she had a blood clot.
Speaking to Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard on Friday’s GMB, she explained: ‘I had a situation with my leg that went completely numb and had to go to the doctor to get it checked for a possible blood clot.’
Fortunately, it wasn’t a blood clot and Charlotte did not need to go to a hospital.
She continued: ‘I assumed I would emerge from this and suddenly get better. It’s absolute exhaustion like I’ve got to go straight back home and back to bed.
‘They’re still trying to understand exactly what the after effects of Covid are. They know there are all sorts of symptoms people are left with.’
Kate chimed in: ‘It is very very very tricky.’
The AstraZeneca vaccine has been subjected to scrutiny after it was linked to a series of rare blood clots in some people who had the jab. However, in August scientists reported they had seen no new cases of the potentially deadly symptom in a month.
Earlier in the week, Charlotte detailed her Covid experience and said: ‘It’s good to be back, thank you very much. Luckily I only had mild cold-like symptoms, so I can tell you it’s nice to be out the other side safely.’
We’re all glad to have you back,’ weather woman Laura assured her co-host.
Charlotte then caught up with Susanna Reid, Alistair Campbell and Dr Hilary Jones, and explained further: ‘I am so glad to be here, I isolated for 10 days – well, more than 10 days actually.
She added: ‘I was so relieved to be out and hug again… it’s not much fun at all going through it.’
The TV star revealed her mild symptoms included feeling tired, cold-like symptoms and as though she was ‘fighting something off’.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
