Homes around the UK you can buy in time for Christmas – and extra gifts

If all you want for Christmas is to wake up in your shiny new home, there’s plenty of choice if you act now.

For a wide range of apartments and houses at developments across and outside London will be ready to move into by the third week of December – and you might even strike lucky and grab a festive incentive, too.

Capital time

Pocket Living’s Harbard Close in Barking is aimed at first-time buyers and the one-bed apartments are cleverly designed so that not an inch of space goes to waste.

They incorporate open-plan kitchen/living areas, shower rooms, double bedrooms and Juliet balconies, and residents have access to secure bike storage, allotment beds and a garden room with co-working and chill-out areas.

Offered at 20% below the local market price, they start from £192,000.

Located on the banks of the River Lea in Docklands and a five-minute walk from East India DLR station, Galliard’s Orchard Wharf has nearly sold out but an assortment of one, two and three-bed apartments remains.

They’re the gift that keeps on giving as they’re fully furnished courtesy of New Concept Furnishings, so all you’ll need to do is add your Christmas tree.

Developer Galliard is paying stamp duty up to £700,000 on properties exchanging before January 31.

Prices range from £445,000 to £770,000 with Help To Buy available.

Two roomy two-bed apartments with Help To Buy and a pair of three-beds are left at One Woodside, a boutique scheme of nine homes in leafy North Finchley.

The open-plan living areas feature flat-fronted German kitchens, quartz worktops and herringbone flooring, and each has a balcony and parking space, from £550,000.

Ten one and two-bed apartments are ready to move into now at The Collection at Portobello Square, part of Catalyst’s 1,000-home regeneration project at the north end of lively Portobello Road.

They incorporate open-plan living spaces, private outdoor space and fully integrated home automation systems controlled by an iPhone or iPad, as well as underfloor heating. Prices from £745,000.

It’ll be hard not to get into the Christmas spirit when buying at London Square Bermondsey, as the foodie delights of Bermondsey Street are on the doorstep and Borough Market’s a short walk away.

Owner occupiers reserving a duplex, from £1.14million, before October 31, get all their stamp duty paid and all buyers will be welcomed with a box of delicious goodies from indie specialist produce and wine store Bermondsey Corner.

Leave London behind

Although it’s in the village of Hawkinge in the midst of the Kent countryside, Hawker23, by Dakota Loft Developments, has all the hallmarks of a London loft-style development as the one and two-bed apartments have high ceilings and incorporate on-trend kitchen islands and stone bathroom basins.

High-speed trains can be picked up at Ashford, a 25-minute drive away. From £190,000.

Just to confuse things, Ashford is also the name of a town on the Surrey/Hounslow borders, convenient for Heathrow. Here you’ll find The Gate House, a mix of one and two-bed apartments and two, three and four-bed houses, complete and ready to move into now.

They start from £275,000 with Help To Buy, and there’s stamp duty promotion until the end of the month. An open day is being held this Saturday.

Bedford’s an ideal spot for commuters and The Place, by Storey Homes, is only a couple of miles from the station.

Built in the grounds of a historic mansion which is being restored, it gives first-time buyers an impressive amount of space for their money.

Three two-bed apartments will be ready for Christmas, ranging in size from 711 to 948sq feet, from £249,950.

Families searching for plenty of room to host a festive gathering should take a look at St Edward’s Gate in Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire.

This gated community from Chase New Homes comprises 23 four and five-bed houses with light and airy open-plan living areas, large kitchen/dining areas, bifold doors opening onto the rear garden and underfloor heating throughout.

Priced from £975,000 for a four-bed Ascot house type, which comes with stamp duty paid, a complimentary window dressing package and £2,000 towards legal fees.
