James ‘Arg’ Argent is determined to wow audiences with his dance moves as part of a new show, an insider has told OK!

The former TOWIE star is putting in all hours to impress on Dirty Dancing themed series, The Real Dirty Dancing, and even hopes he will do better than ex-girlfriend Gemma Collins’ stint on Dancing on Ice in 2019.

“Arg has always wanted to do Dancing on Ice and he was gutted when Gemma got it,” the insider told OK!

“He’s signed up to a TV show celebrating 35 years since Dirty Dancing was released and he’s determined to show off his dancing skills and go further than how Gemma did when she appeared on Dancing on Ice [in 2019].”

The GC was a hit with viewers when she took part in the ITV competition show, skating alongside Matt Evers, and came a respectable eighth place. And Arg is pulling out all the stops to match her success.

“He hopes this show will eventually lead on to being offered a place on Dancing on Ice,” the source concluded.

Arg and Gemma have had an on and off relationship for nine years and went their separate ways for good last year.

While Arg has been concentrating on losing weight and recovering from a drug addiction, Gemma reunited with her ex Rami Hawash in April. The pair were previously engaged in 2013.

And Gemma has already hinted that she and her beau are planning to have a family together.

'I'm ready for a baby," she told The Daily Star.

"I am going to try next year. I'm really excited about it.

"That'll be the next show I do, Gemma Collins: Making The Baby."

The Real Dirty Dancing is a dance competition show appearing on E4 next year and celebrating the cult film’s 35th anniversary. Keith Lemon and Ashley Roberts are hosting, while there are 10 celebrity contestants taking part. Alongside Arg, The Sun have also reported Lee Ryan and Anthea Turner are competing in the show.

“This show is perfect for Arg as he’s a massive Dirty Dancing fan,” an insider told the newspaper.

“It’s also great exercise too, which is vital for his recovery.”

We can't wait to watch!
