Josie Gibson opens up on ‘mistakes made’ during This Morning stand-in appearance

Josie Gibson has opened up about the mistakes she made during her time on This Morning, when she filled in for Holly Willoughby in November.

The upbeat presenter, who fans loved for her down to earth nature and great sense of humour, stepped in for Holly for three episodes of the hit ITV morning show when she was off ill.

Josie was invited to co-host the beloved show last minute alongside Phillip Schofield, but admitted it wasn’t all as smooth sailing as it appeared.

Speaking to Closer magazine, the 36 year old revealed: "I made mistakes on air and sometimes my timing was off, but the viewers were so understanding.”

The former Big Brother star revealed that filling in for Holly on the beloved show was no easy task.

She added: "It's hard work and Holly messaged me to say thank you for covering her and I said, 'hurry up and get your ass back!', she and Phil make it look so easy.

"I thought how did I get here? I'm on one of the biggest daytime TV shows and next to one of the biggest TV presenters in the world. I felt like I was living the dream!"

The mother of one credited her co-star Phillip for guiding her through the daunting task of presenting the show and helping her feel less like an “imposter.”

In spite of her nerves and feeling as though she had been “thrown into the deep end”, fans praised Josie’s appearance on the show and even called her a “natural”.

Heat Magazine reported that after Josie’s successful time on the sofa, ITV bosses are in discussions about giving Josie a regular role on the show.

The easy replacement also reportedly left Holly “concerned” about her own role on the show given how “easily” she was replaced.

An insider told Heat: “Holly has been really open with show bosses about wanting to try new things, and while she will always be loyal to This Morning, she’s not sure what the future holds.”

Josie often left fans in hysterics on the show for her quick wit and revelations such as that she hoards calculators.

The triumphant week left Josie filled with emotions and she admitted she cried when she was invited back to co-host the show for a second day running. Josie said: "Thank you very much for having me back," as Phillip replied: "No, there was a massive response, people loved you…"

Josie added: "Do you know what? Social media can be quite a dark place at times. But yesterday I was showered with love.

"I had a good cry, I did have a cry for about half an hour after the show."
