Kim Cattrall Makes Appearance in First Trailer for Hulus How I Met Your Father

The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off is ‘a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where a [young] Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are.’

AceShowbiz -While Kim Cattrall is absent from “And Just Like That…“, the actress is front and center on “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off, “How I Met Your Father“. On Thursday, December 16, Hulu treated fans to the first trailer for the upcoming comedy series.

In the new footage, Kim makes her debut as the all-knowing narrator. As she plays the older version of Hilary Duff‘s character Sophie, Kim introduces what viewers can expect from the highly-anticipated follow-up to CBS’ long-running sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”.

“This is the story of how I met your father,” the “Sex and the City” alum explains. “It was hard to live in the moment in 2022. There was always someplace else you could be, someone else you could be with.”

Later, 2022 Sophie is seen ranting over her love story to Jesse (Chris Lowell) and Sid (Suraj Sharma). “I’ve been on 87 Tinder dates this year,” Sophie laments. “My last date was the worst one yet,” she adds, before it is revealed that her date admits to having sex with someone else before meeting her.

At one point, Sophie realizes that “it’s really hard to meet someone and connect and have it feel easy.” However, she believes that her story has just began as she tells Jesse, “Today is the first chapter of my next great love story.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, Sophie says, “Screw being mature. We can still make bad choices for a few more years,” before she laments, “We live in confusing times.”

According to its official logline, “How I Met Your Father” is “a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where a [young] Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

Also starring on the show are Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Daniel Augustin, Ashley Reyes and Josh Peck. The latter apparently plays a potential love interest for Sophie.

“How I Met Your Father” premieres on January 18, 2022 on Hulu.
