Amber, 21, has been slowly coming to terms with losing former beau Michael, 27, to former Love Island star Joanna Chimonides, 22, some weeks ago following the furious fallout from Casa Amor.
With Joanna having been dumped from the ITV reality show earlier this week, Michael remained in the villa but explicitly told Amber there was no chance the former couple would get back together.
Recent episodes have seen rugby player and wannabe solicitor Greg O’Shea, 24, enter the villa as one of the latest bombshells and in getting closer to Amber, it seemed Michael’s old feelings for his former partner were re-emerging for seeing her getting with another boy.
Tonight’s instalment will begin where last night’s drama left off, with Michael breaking a conversation between Amber and Greg to tell the islander how he really feels about her.
I don’t get it

After some encouragement from the other boys in the villa to be open with Amber, Michael tells her: “The situation that I am in now has given me time to clarify a few things in my head.
“It’s given me time to think and realise ‘I do like Amber’,” the firefighter admits, with his former partner in disbelief.
Grovelling for Amber’s remorse, Michael adds: “I can only apologise about how I was over the last few weeks. I’m just letting you know that I do still like you.”
Shocked by the confession, Amber says in reference to Michael being so cold towards her: “I don’t get it. If you liked me the whole time, why would you do that?”
“Would you still have done this if she [Joanna] was still here?” Amber asks, to which Michael replies: “Yes. I would have to have this conversation.
“I knew that I still liked you. I just kept denying it to myself,” Michael admits, but is the islander’s revelation enough to make Amber fall back into the firefighter’s arms?
Speaking in the Beach Hut in light of her conversation with Michael, Amber reflects: “I actually
cannot believe what is happening!
“I cannot believe Michael of all people, pushed his pride to the side and said how he really felt.”
Later in the episode however, Amber’s attentions are drawn back to newcomer Greg as the boys takes part in a buffet builder task.
As with some of the other challenges, the boys have the opportunity to plant a kiss on their betrothed, but Greg only gives Amber a peck on the cheek.
Reflecting on the task, Amber says: “I wouldn’t have minded if Greg had kissed me!” as she also finds herself locking lips with Michael during the task.
In the evening, the announcement comes through there will be a recoupling, but will Amber throw Michael to the side as he did with her by choosing Greg, or has the firefighter done enough to wheedle his way back into the model’s affections?
It seems fans are still backing Amber and Michael to be potential champions of this series when the show wraps up in just under two weeks time.
According to the latest odds from bookmaker Ladbrokes, Amber and Michael are at 13/2, with frontrunners Tommy Fury, 20, and Molly-Mae Hague, 20, still proving popular at 2/5.
However, wedged in between the two couples are new partnership Curtis Pritchard, 23, and Maura Higgins, 28, with the pair at 6/1 to win the show.
Speaking of the odds, Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “We’re strapping ourselves in for what could be the closest end to a Love Island series we’ve ever seen.”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
