Netflix has recently announced that the fifth season of the series will be released in two parts on September 3 and December 3 respectively. As viewers wait to discover the fates of their favourite characters, actress Acebo has detailed what’s in store for Stockholm in the final season.

The announcement of the series’ release date has got viewers extremely excited for season five, especially after season four’s shocking cliffhanger.

Many questions have been left unanswered so the final season has a lot of story arcs to wrap up.

Money Heist follows The Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) and his ambitious plan to escape the Royal Mint of Spain with €2.6billion.

The Bank of Spain later becomes a target in an increasingly dangerous second heist.

The hit non-English-language series is one of Netflix’s most-watched shows of all time.

The award-winning show is set in Madrid, Spain, and follows criminal mastermind The Professor as he executes his plan with his team.

Actress Esther Acebo, who portrays Stockholm, has experienced quite the transformation over the past few seasons.

Mónica Gaztambide (Acebo) is a former hostage during the initial heist but she later falls in love with Denver and becomes one of the thieving group’s accomplices, eventually taking the moniker Stockholm.

Speaking to the Indian Express, actress Acebo details what’s next for her character in the final season, as well as expressing her excitement for the series to return.

“I’m very happy with Stockholm’s character, with everything she’s going through.

“She has gone from that secretary we barely remember to being part of the gang,” Acebo continued.

The actress also teased that in the final season Stockholm will have “a little more strength, power, and courage to do some crazy things.”

Stockholm has already had quite the character arc so it seems her storyline in season five will be an exciting watch.

The character began life as a secretary of the Royal Mint of Spain and was the mistress of its director, Arturo Román (Enrique Arce), with whom she later had a child.

However, Stockholm later falls in love with Denver (Jaime Lorente) and joins the group of robbers.

Since becoming a criminal, the character has been an important part of the heist and its plans, yet her relationship with Denver has become increasingly difficult as a result.

Acebo also revealed that, while she was incredibly exhausted filming the final season, she was incredibly excited to see season five come to life for the last time.

“It’s so exciting and so much fun that I’m happy,” the actress added.

After separating from the group in season three, Stockholm and Denver are living together in Indonesia and had a child called Cincinnati.

However, they pair rejoin The Professor with Stockholm later taking charge of the gold smelting factory.

Though, she and Denver are having issues in their relationship so it’ll be interesting to see how they will be explored in the final season.

Money Heist is currently available to watch on Netflix.
