Fans tuned in to Starz to see the fate of Tariq St Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr) after he answered a police call from his burner phone. However, it was the surprise appearance of a familiar face from the original Power series, which kept viewers talking after the show was over.

In the season premiere, which aired last week, viewers saw as Tariq battled to get rid of the burner phone which kept him in touch with his mother Tasha St Parick (Naturi Naughton) when she was in jail.

Now Tasha is in witness protection, he believed throwing it would sever the only form of communication the pair had.

However, he had to do so as the number was traced in professor Jabari Reynold’s (Justin McManus) phone records.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem but there was a huge murder investigation after Tariq killed his professor in the jaw-dropping season finale.

Detective Kevin Whitman (Jeff Hepner) was leading the investigation and unknowingly called Tariq’s number to trace the call.

In hopes it was his mother calling, Tariq desperately answered the call and thankfully didn’t speak before the officer introduced himself.

Tariq hung up the phone straight away but it was too late, as they were able to trace the location of the phone to Stansfield University where the teenager was living and studying.

He instantly destroyed the phone, as the officers were able to narrow down the search location for the murderer.

In the latest episode titled ‘Selfless Acts,’ Tariq was having an intense nightmare which also featured a major flashback scene.

In his dream, the teenager was transported back to season four of the original power series, when Tasha taught him how to get rid of the evidence – after he killed Ray Ray (Marcus Callender).

Kanan Stark (50 Cent) made a surprise appearance in the scene, as Tariq dreamt he was telling him to stop being afraid of severing ties and throw the phone away.

Fans were thrilled to see Kanan make a comeback in the show, despite being shot to death by police in season five of Power.

A number of viewers took to Twitter to share their excitement about Kanan returning to pressurize Tariq.

ArdyJay5 commented: “Yaaassss for the Kanan appearance.”

Whereas VirgosznF0reva wrote: “Kanan is Tariq’s spirit guide LMFAOOO.”

“It was hella dope seeing Kanan back in power,” disclosed TreavorAkathe.

Blonde _Barbie7 shared their thoughts and wrote: “I love how Tariq hears Kanan’s voice in his head.”

Batmannz20 also tweeted: “It’s always good to see Kanan is still in Tariq memory.”

However, not all fans were enthused to see Kanan’s surprise appearance.

User, LaBellaReina1 tweeted: “I didn’t ask to see Kanan, that’s so uncalled for lol.”

Before Tariq played the part and framed him for Ray Ray’s murder, Kanan and Tariq had a close relationship.

This was frowned upon by his father James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick as Kanan was an old friend and business associate but Ghost and Tasha also set him to go to prison for ten years and knew he wanted revenge.

Fans will have to stay tuned to see if Tariq will get away with yet another murder and to see which other character could rise from the dead and make an appearance.
