Shane Johnson’s shady lawyer Cooper Saxe has outlasted much of the original cast of Courtney Kemp’s popular Power franchise. With his character set to return in the second season of Power Book II: Ghost on Starz, the star recently took to Instagram to reveal where Saxe could go next.
Corrupt U.S. Attorney Cooper Saxe could finally secure a win against the St. Patricks in the upcoming second season of Power Book II.
Saxe has long held a grudge against one of New York’s most elite families thanks to the powerful drug dealer James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick consistently evading capture.
After Ghost’s death at the end of Power’s sixth season, Saxe has returned with an even greater vendetta against his surviving wife and son.
At the start of Book II, Saxe is coerced into charging James’ wife and suspected murderer, Tasha (Naturia Naughton) with the Continuing Criminal Enterprise Kingpin Statute, which would land her the death penalty if found guilty.
Meanwhile, James’ son Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) is still walking free as his father’s real murderer, though some illegally obtained evidence threatened to blow his cover.
Plus, having failed to capture Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), a new partnership with Davis Maclean (Method Man) was the only thing preventing him from losing his job at the end of the first season.
Originally introduced as one of the series’ shrewdest antagonists, Saxe has become a bit of a punching bag in recent years.
However, his luck could be about to change once Power Book II returns for its second season.
As filming continues in Chicago, Saxe star Shane Johnson appeared on Tea with Tia’s live Instagram Q&A to tease his role in the next season.
Johnson admitted: “Here’s what I want for Saxe; I want Saxe to win. Just to win.”
The star continued to plead with the series to let him come out on top at least once as the series continues.
While the shady attorney is currently safe and secure in his job with the FBI, Saxe is still no closer to taking down New York’s biggest drug ring.

Despite his suspicions with Tariq, his job could get even harder as the young drug dealer and businessman forges his new partnership with powerful Queenpin, Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige).
Moreover, Saxe even became the laughing stock of his own family when they revealed his humiliating nickname; Uncle Nancy.
Touching on his character’s recent track record, Johnson admitted: “I’ve taken so many L’s.”
Johnson proceeded to question Q&A host Tia Anderson whether Saxe has managed to secure a single victory over seven seasons of the popular Starz series.
He asked: “I’ve been on this show for seven seasons, I’ve been on this show for eight years. Can you tell me a single triumph?”
Anderson then had to wrack her brains and think back to Saxe’s sex scene in the very first season to come up with a suitable answer.
Thankfully, the star’s comments hint Saxe may finally get a step closer to taking down Tariq when Power Book II returns for its highly anticipated follow-up.
Meanwhile, Johnson has also confirmed he’s excited for the opportunity to appear in further spin-offs for the series, including the upcoming Tommy-led series, Power Book IV: Force.
Power Book II is available to watch on Starz and Starzplay.
