Ruth Langsford leaves Dermot O’Leary blushing after scolding him on This Morning

Ruth Langsford gave Dermot O'Leary a telling off on Tuesday when she appeared on This Morning to promote the conversation to come on Loose Women.

Dermot and Alison Hammond could be seen sitting outside the ITV studios, leaning back in a pair of armchairs and taking advantage of the mini-heatwave.

However, when Ruth noticed Dermot was propping his feet up on a cushion, she immediately instructed him to take his shoes off the soft furnishing.

Dermot complied with her demands, as his co-presenter Alison praised him for "being good" and taking off his shoes.

It all kicked off when Ruth popped up on the screen, only for Dermot to ask what the Loose Women panel would be "yacking about" on the show.

"Yacking Dermot? We're having intelligent conversation and debate as Alison knows," Ruth bit back.

Suddenly, Ruth – who formerly hosted This Morning's Friday show alongside her husband Eamonn Holmes – noticed Dermot's feet.

"Get your feet off that cushion as well," she exclaimed.

Moments later, the camera panned back to Dermot, who was politely sitting with his feet rested on the cushion, his shoes placed to the side.

"Shoes off," he told Ruth, as Alison remarked: "He's taken his shoes off, he's being good now."

In November of last year, ITV confirmed Alison and Dermot would replace Ruth and Eamonn as Friday hosts on This Morning, with the changes coming into place in January.

Issuing a statement at the time, Dermot said: "I'm deeply thrilled and honoured to be joining the This Morning team next year.

"We have huge shoes to fill and we are well aware what a privilege it is to be stepping into them.

"Above all, we want to have fun and for you to be able to kick your weekend off with a smile, especially given the year we've all had."

Both Ruth and Eamonn reacted to the news by wishing Dermot and Alison the best in their new venture, sharing identical statements over their social media platforms.

It read: "It's a changing of the guard on Fridays from January.
