Spice Girls legend Melanie C has announced she will be competing on Dancing With The Stars, the US version of Strictly.

Melanie, 47, will be joining the likes of JoJo Siwa and Amanda Kloots on the programme as she showcases her best dance moves to judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Toniolo, Derek Hough and Len Goodman.

This however isn't Melanie's first brush with dancing as the Spice Girls are known for their iconic dance moves from some of their biggest songs.

Melanie's exciting announcement comes just hours after she was reportedly spotted heading into rehearsals in Los Angeles.

In true Sporty Spice style, Melanie slipped into a pair of bright tracksuit bottoms, paired with a cropped hoodie showcasing her impressive abs, white Nike Airmax trainers and a silver visor covering her face.

Breaking her silence on her Instagram page, the Whiston-born songstress penned: "I have a little surprise for you all!

"I'm so excited to announce that I will be appearing on the new season of Dancing With The Stars @dancingabc and I can’t wait to get going!"

Melanie added: "Make sure you follow all my progress on @abcnetwork from Monday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET and here on social media. Keep dancing! #DWTS #TeamSporty."

Shortly after penning her announcement, the star was instantly flooded with messages of congratulations from her die-hard fans and celebrity pals.

Bandmate Emma Bunton gushed: "Yes gorgeous girl!!!"

"What?! Shocked! Good luck," wrote one fan.

Before a second went on to add: "Love this! #TeamSporty got skills!"

"Congrats! Here’s to you winning," said a third.

"Omg amazing!!! That’s why u were going for so long lol #TeamSporty all the way," exclaimed singer Pixie Lott.

Chisholm isn't the only member of power group the Spice Girls to appear on Dancing With The Stars, with bandmate Melanie Brown competing as a contestant during season 5 in 2007 before returning as a presenter in season 12 back in 2012.

Bandmate Emma Bunton also competed on the UK version, Strictly Come Dancing in 2006, coming third to winners Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy

While the competition may be tough, Melanie is no stranger to a tough work schedule as she's one-quarter of the biggest girl group, selling millions of records across the globe.

Melanie has also co-written 11 number one records, more than any other female in history

Dancing With The Stars returns to screens on September 20.
