SPOILERS: Here's What Happened to Samantha in 'Sex and the City' Revival 'And Just Like That'

MASSIVE, MAJOR, HUGE spoilers for And Just Like That ahead. Including on the death of a character *and* on where Samantha Jones is now. Turn back now if you don’t want to know!

Sex and the City’s revival And Just Like That premiered on HBO Max last night, which means yep: we finally know what happens to Samantha. As anyone with even a fledgling interest in Sex and the City knows, Kim Cattrall isn’t in And Just Like That, and fans have been wondering how the show would explain the absence of her character.

Turns out, Samantha moved to London after a fight with Carrie. We discover this almost immediately when Bitsy von Muffling asks Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte where Samantha is, and it’s revealed she’s living in the U.K.

Later in the episode, Miranda notes that “You know, it is kind of like she’s dead, Samantha. We never even talk about her,” to which Carrie replies, “Well, what is there to say? Carrie then explains that Samantha stopped returning her calls and voicemails (actually, she hasn’t been in touch with anybody), saying “Look, I understand that she was upset, but I thought I was more to her than an ATM.”

Samantha’s brought up again in the second episode—after the sudden death of Mr. Big. At the funeral, Carrie sees that she’s been sent flowers with a note simply saying “Love, Samantha.” In other words, it looks like there’s hope for reconciliation, but…as we know, Kim is not expected to show up in the series at any point, so!
