Strictly injury crisis as Rhys Stephenson chips a tooth after stumbling during rehearsals

STRICTLY Come Dancing celebrity Rhys Stephenson is the latest to injure himself during rehearsal.

The actor and children’s television host showed off his nasty injury on Instagram, with a close-up photo of his chipped tooth.

"Chipped my tooth in rehearsals today, this cha cha is a menace 😆😬
#strictly#strictlycomedancing#thetoothhurts," he captioned the post.

He later revealed in the comments that he "hit my tooth with the microphone."

His Strictly co-stars rushed to comment with Tom Fletcher – who is currently isolating after testing positive for Covid – making light of the matter.

"You cha cha chipped your tooth?! How?!? HOW?!?!," he wrote.

His pro dance partner Nancy Xu saw the humour in the incident and commented: "😂😂😂😂😂😂"

Rhys' employer, CBBC simply wrote, "Brutal 😱."

One of his fans commented: "Ouch!! Looking chipper though 😜."

And another added: "Omg I chipped my tooth this week too! Regardless though you’re gonna smash it tomorrow!!! ❤️🙌"

Rhys is a staple of children’s television, hosting high-profile shows such as Blue Peter and Newsround.

The London-born celeb has been the friendly, smiling face of CBBC since 2017, when he began hosting the presentation links between shows, live from the channel's Salford HQ.

Speaking about joining Strictly, Rhys said: "I am BUZZING to be a part of Strictly Come Dancing 2021.

“I have dreamt about being on this show, and I know for a fact that it is going to exceed every expectation.

"I cannot wait to experience it all: the costumes, the orchestra, even Craig's glare! I am READY!"

An ambassador for children's mental health charity Place2Be, Rhys has also contributed to CBBC’s Children In Need and Comic Relief coverage.

He's not the only star whose Strictly rehearsals have taken a toll.

Comedian Judi Love admitted being on the verge of vomiting during the gruelling training sessions, while Adam Peatty said he struggled to walk.

This week, BBC news presenter Dan Walker sent his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova reeling after elbowing her in the teeth.

He explained: "This week we are doing the paso doble to Giant by Rag N Bone Man. See, it's a bit weird, but it works.

"I also need to tell you about a slight incident. I elbowed Nadia Bychkova, professional partner, in the teeth."

Stunning Nadia, a Slovenian ballroom and Latin champion, added by way of correction: "In the face."
