With the recent weddings of Jedidiah Duggar and Katie Nakatsu, and Justin Duggar and Claire Spivey, the Duggar family is continuing to grow. As it stands, there are now ten married Duggar kids. While the family continues to expand, not everyone has stuck close to home. Justin and Claire recently revealed that they are not settling down in Arkansas. While it’s not what the majority of his siblings have chosen to do, he’s not alone either. Four Duggar kids have left the family’s home state, at least briefly, after getting married.
Justin Duggar and his wife, Claire Spivey, spoke to TLC about their life in Texas
Justin and his wife, Claire, have finally put rumors about their living situation to rest. In an update about married life, the teenage couple revealed that they have settled into married life in Texas, not in Arkansas. Claire and Justin appeared to spend much of their courtship in Claire’s home state, so their decision to start their life there makes sense.
Before his February 2021 wedding to Claire, Justin appeared to be busy working on a mobile home that was gifted to him by his father, Jim Bob Duggar. Some family followers assumed the couple would live in the property, much like several of his other siblings had done. Instead, Justin renovated the home and sold it just weeks before he said, “I Do.” He is currently working in Texas and appears to have no plans to return to Arkansas.
Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo are currently residing in Los Angeles with no plans on returning to Arkansas
Jinger Duggar met her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, through her sister Jessa Duggar. The courtship was a quick one, and within a few months, Jinger and Jeremy were wed in a large ceremony in Arkansas. The couple had no plans on sticking around, though. Jeremy had a job and life in Laredo, and Jinger quickly joined him. While they spent the first few years of their marriage in Texas, they have relocated to Los Angeles to allow Jeremy to continue his seminary studies.
Once dubbed the rebellious Duggar, Jinger was the first in her family to leave Arkansas as soon as she exchanged wedding vows. Family followers have some concerns about how well Jinger has acclimated to life in LA, but it doesn’t appear that the Vuolos are planning to return to Arkansas. Jeremy was raised in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and has no ties to the Springdale area.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard briefly lived in central America before settling back in Arkansas
Before Jinger married Jeremy and long before Justin and Claire set up roots in Texas, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard left the country. In 2015, the young couple left Arkansas and served as missionaries in Central America. They spent more than a year abroad. Fans lambasted Derick and Jill for flying back and forth to Arkansas on a seemingly bi-monthly basis.
Once they returned stateside, they decided to settle down in Arkansas. Currently, they live roughly 20 minutes from the Duggar family’s Springdale, Arkansas compound. That is, however, subject to change. Derick recently told the U.S. Sun that both he and Jill are open to moving abroad at some point. Derick, just like Jill, was raised in Arkansas.
Josh Duggar and Anna Duggar briefly resided in Washington D.C. before back-to-back scandals sent them back to Arkansas
Disgraced first-born Josh Duggar was the first of his siblings to marry and move away. While he and his wife, Anna Duggar, now appear to be living in a warehouse on the Duggar family’s property, they once resided in a large home just outside of Washington D.C. For two years, the couple lived in Oxon Hill, Maryland, while Josh worked for the Family Research Council.
TLC covered Josh and Anna’s move on the family’s show, 19 Kids and Counting. Cameras also followed them as they settled into a life far from their own families. In 2015, after Josh admitted to molesting his siblings as a teen and cheating on his wife, they moved back to Arkansas. They briefly owned a large farmhouse but sold it in 2019.
