June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) continues to be torn between two lives in the latest trailer for the brand new season of The Handmaid’s Tale. With just over a week before the dystopian drama returns to Hulu, fans have been trying to guess if the rebellious Handmaid will stay with her husband in Canada, or return to Gilead after finding love with Nick Blaine (Max Minghella).
Season four of The Handmaid’s Tale could feature yet another heartbreaking moment for June Osborne and Luke Bankole (O-T Fagbenle).
Since the start of the series, June has been desperate to reunite with her husband after being captured as a Handmaid by the oppressive patriarchal state of Gilead.
By the end of season three, she took a step closer to reuniting her family in Canada after assisting Mayday smuggle a group of vulnerable children across the border.
However, the latest trailers for the upcoming instalment could be telling a different story.
Some brief clips in the full length season four trailer seem to confirm June will reignite her complicated affair with the Waterfords’ driver, Nick Blaine.
The rebellious Handmaid first developed an attachment to the Gilead Guardian during her service to Fred (Joseph Fiennes) and Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski).
A relationship largely built on desperation and circumstance, June and Nick nevertheless developed strong feelings for one another during her imprisonment.
Footage from the trailers have now seemed to confirm those feelings will return, despite June taking a step closer to freedom at the end of season three.
In an extremely brief scene, the couple are seen sharing a passionate kiss, with June once again dressed in the signature red uniform of a Handmaid.
Despite making it over to Canada, additional moments from the new trailer indicate June will be forced to return to Gilead at some point.
Now a Commander of Gilead, Nick will be an invaluable ally in June’s quest to reunite with her husband Luke and daughter, Hannah (Jordana Blake).
However, some fans have speculated June won’t want to return to married life after reconnecting with Nick in the new season.

After experiencing so much trauma at the hands of the Waterfords, Luke may no longer understand what June will need from him as a husband.
On Reddit, one fan speculated: “When this is all over, if June survives, she has to end up with Nick, right? Luke will never be able to relate to what she’s been through.”
If June continues to open herself up to him, Nick’s status within Gilead could provide her only chance of survival now she’s a wanted fugitive.
Alternatively, many viewers are still optimistic June and Luke will reunite and continue to maintain Nick isn’t wholly trustworthy.
Another fan said: “The only reason June clings to him is because it’s the only place she can find some kind of love.
“And as she said, you have to take love wherever you can find it in Gilead.”
With new episodes coming very soon, fans will just have to wait and see if the love between June and Nick is worth holding onto, or if the Handmaid will try to escape once again to find her lost husband.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 premieres Wednesday, April 28 on Hulu.
